Our Elders

NWQICSS recognises that our community Elders are the holders of Traditional Knowledge and are essential to the fabric of Aboriginal society and are the teachers of the next generation.

We strive to support and facilitate programs that connect our Elders to the community ensuring that the   connection of culture and knowledge is preserved and passed on, preserving the old ways for future generations.

Acknowledgement to Country

North West Queensland Indigenous Catholic Social Services acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we provide our services and their connections to Land, Water and Community. We pay our respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.

We also extend our respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people that live within the areas we operate.

We recognise the contributions of all Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in working together to develop an enriched appreciation of cultural heritage we have here in Australia – A country which we all share and live in together.
